Student Nomination Story

Mr. Harper has blown my mind this year. In a year following the pandemic, when students were coming back into a whole new school, facing all kinds of new stresses, Mr. Harper made his classroom a safe place. For the entire year he has worked, checking in with students, going above and beyond to make sure they are doing OK emotionally above all. He has messaged them during breaks, checking in if they have any needs he can meet, he has pointed out, publicly, the goodness in them. My daughter has a history of mental health issues, and the way he has helped her feel comfortable, and that she has strengths has mattered so much to me. Mr. Harper focuses so much on the emotional and mental well-being of kids. He has let dozens of kids know their specific selves matter. I’ve never seen another teacher like this.
