Student Nomination Story
Miss Marticio is quite literally sunshine in a person. She radiates so much positivity and love which was exactly what my school was needing. She was our missing piece. There was not a single day where I wasn’t excited to be in her classroom, she always stood on the door way to greet us with a warm smile and a cheerful, “Good morning!” Having fun activities and lessons in her classroom, physics, always making sure to include everyone. At one point during Junior year I was struggling with my mother’s illness, she was diagnosed a year before with Breast Cancer, I felt like I had hit rock bottom but Miss Marticio always supported me. Giving me words of affirmation and asking about my Mothers wellbeing, as well as mine. She became my school mother when my mother didn’t have time, whether it was because of her hospital visits or because she simply didn’t have the energy to do so after her chemotherapy, Miss Marticio was there for me. She calls us her “kids” because that’s what we are to her. Her children, she treats us as one of her own and I believe that’s beautiful. Miss Marticio praises everyone, even for the smallest things because she believes we should appreciate what we have, what we receive, and what we give. I had gotten the highest score in my physics mock test for my classroom and she made sure to let me know how happy she was for me. She made me feel so proud of myself for achieving that score. Not only does she make me a confident student, she also makes me a confident person. Assuring me that I can achieve greater things if I set my mind to it. Giving me her unconditional support. I was absent for a good while during this school year due to my mothers health reasons, or mine but Miss Marticio always made sure to reach out or ask my friends about me and my well-being. Maybe this answers the how do I know they care about me question but to me this is support. She is vital in my support system and I will forever be in debt to her for how much she’s done for me.
