Student Nomination Story
My name is Carlos Alcantar. I am a Sophomore at C.E King High School. I have faced many different challenges while attending school. Whether it be me being bullied by older kids, stressing out over assignments, or even just when I’m not having a good day. When I was in the 3rd grade, I was very shy and didn't want to socialize with anyone. My teacher had noticed I wasn't having a very great day and decided to completely change my entire mindset with only a few words. She said, “How is everyone supposed to notice how great your are if you are not willing to let yourself be heard?” This completely changed not only the way I had seen things but also the way that people had seen me. That day she not only changed my mindset but also my whole lifestyle. After that very moment I had dedicated all of my spare time either getting to know people more or getting people to know me. I would never let people miss the opportunity to meet me. While Mrs.Trevino moved onto another school my 4th grade year, the life changing words of her remain. All I know is that she is also changing the lifestyles of many other children to create a better way of self-positivity.
