Student Nomination Story
On the first day of school, Mrs. Elliott's class was my fourth period. That day, I was feeling lost and overwhelmed because it was a new school and it was also online. So, I was a bit confused about what to do and where to go. When I got to Mrs. Elliott's class, there was clarity and understanding. We did a get-to-know-you activity and a quick write. Something I really like about Mrs. Elliot, is that she's always so kind with her words. She always says things like, "Hi lovely people" and others when talking to her students. I think it's really nice of her to do that because a student might really need to hear words like that. Mrs. Elliott also engages her students by asking questions that lead to discussion. She lets us express our opinions and bounce comments back and forth with each other. I appreciate Mrs. Elliott because she always makes sure to ask if we understand the instructions. I remember a worksheet that I did incorrectly and I got a 70 on it. However, Mrs. Elliot left comments on what I did wrong and what I needed to do to fix it. I found that really helpful, but I didn't fully understand, so after advisory the next day (she's also my advisory teacher), I asked her and she took the time to explain her comments to me. Then, I did as she said, and I ended up earning a 100% for that assignment. I'm grateful for that because it gave me the opportunity to fix my grade and understand what I did wrong. Mrs. Elliot always stays for a few minutes after class is over in case students have questions or want to speak to her. I'm grateful for Mrs. Elliot because she is caring, kind with her words, creates a comfortable conversational atmosphere and gives good feedback. Thank you for all you do Mrs. Elliot and thank you for being an awesome teacher!
