Student Nomination Story
Mr. Lords gave his 110% in class every day for both years I had his class. He pushed us to be the best versions of ourselves, and wouldn’t accept anything but the best from us. He really taught us, he didn’t just make us do nearpods and read textbooks. He helped us retain the information he taught us. He made learning fun, when we were learning things like physics he had hands on experiments and investigations for us so that we could better grasp what we were learning. His classroom was a safe space and I knew I could go to him for anything. At one point during my 8th grade year, I was being bullied by some of my classmates. I told him after a little while and the very next day he gave a speech to my class about bullying. The people who were bothering me never tried it again. He was the only teacher who I was comfortable confiding in, and he made good with my trust. He proved to me that I could trust him, I know he has my back, even now that I won’t be in his class anymore. Every time I showed up to his class with a frown on my face he would ask me what was wrong. He always succeeded at being the only person who could turn my frown right into a smile, even in my worst moods. He was like my school dad and he made me want to do everything to the best of my ability, and encouraged me and all of my classmates to be great students. His dedication to his job and his students was truly inspiring and incredible, he cared about all of his students like they were his own children, and he did all he could to make sure we were learning and happy. Every time I failed to do my best he would call me out on it, and encourage me to fix it. He regularly checked our notebooks and told us some things we were doing well and some things we could fix next time. Because of him I refuse to do anything halfway anymore, he helped me become more confident in my brains and abilities. He helped me do well in his class but he also helped me become more confident. I know I can do well, and that’s because of Mr. Lords. I can’t imagine not having him as my teacher, he was one of my top supporters and I’m going to miss him. He’s an amazing teacher and he deserves to be recognized for all the positive impacts he’s had on his students lives.
