Student Nomination Stories

Nominated by: Maverick Crawford

My little guy went into first grade really not ready for summer to end. He has never really enjoyed school, being he missed pre-k due to shutdowns and the pandemic. He is a shy guy and had a hard time opening up. He also went into his first couple weeks with serious stomach problems that he was hospitalized for, so this mom was extra nervous. After just meeting Mrs. Landwehr on meet the teacher night, his attitude changed. He was excited. The way she welcomed and greeted her new students, made them feel safe, heard, and also just seemed happy to be there herself completely changed his outlook going in. After his first week I could already tell his attitude towards school had changed. He was excited to go, not sad every morning. He enjoys her class, her presence, how she teaches them, how she interacts with them, just everything about her. From a moms prospective in a scary world, I couldn’t ask for better. The way she interacts with us as his parents, constantly communicating with us, updating us, giving us feedback about the school days, weeks, and everything in between. I just couldn’t ask for more. You can tell she truly cares about her students, their lives, their education, and their well being, all while having fun doing it! We will forever remember and miss being in Mrs. Landwehr’s class once this year is over, and also how she is changing so many young minds for the positive! She is at the beginning of her career too, so I can’t imagine the great things ahead for her and her students! She is a gem to the school and every student’s life she comes across!
