Congratulations to
National Teaching Award Nominee
Renee Lewin
Long Trail School, Dorset, Vermont
Student Nomination Story
I think Renee is the best teacher I will ever have. She teaches language arts, and she always picks the best books for us to read. She helps us with our writing and spelling, and loves reading our stories. She is so kind to us and her beloved cats, and she is so funny. She always makes us and her colleagues laugh. She always subs when she can, and helps with the school plays, even when she doesn't really have time. She doesn't give away someone's secrets like newspapers on the side of the road. And, even if she were to, she would do so with awareness and perhaps approval of the secret keeper. She handles fragile feelings with kindness, and gives truthful compliments like a mosquito hands out bites. She tosses out constructive criticism and feeds us life lessons. She helps us when we are struggling and bends her own guidelines when we are behind. She is sometimes stressed out, but only because she is trying to give us the best experience. I wish she could teach me forever, but I’m sure no one in our class will ever forget her.
