Student Nomination Story
The main reason why I chose Mis.Webb over all my other teachers was because I truly feel she goes above and beyond to make sure all of her students have the best opportunity to succeed and that she genuinely cares about all of us and wants everyone to succeed. There have been times where I fall behind in the class yet, not once did I feel judged or excluded out of the class or the conversation. She has a very inclusive and friendly personality and environment to her class and it’s what I love about her, it's an environment that makes you want to learn and make you feel comfortable which I think is very important. This brings me to how flexible and accommodating Mis. Webb is, I have so many memories of her moving dates around of deallinse and due dates because she realized that it conflicted with something else important. Like one time our school was having a game Friday night which also happened to be the deadline of a test and she realized that she had a lot of band kids who would have a hard time getting the test done on time, so she moved the test to a Sunday so that everyone could take the test and not have to worry. There is another similar moment where she realized that a lot of the students had a busy workload this one particular week with a bunch of tests, so to try to help the class out she; extended the deadline of a test to the whole week and you could choose when to take the test. I have many memories of her doing things like this all year and to me it shows how accommodating and understanding she was with everyone, which I think is significant because it again shows her true commitment to seeing her kids succeed. I’d also like to point out her dedication and strong work ethic she has for her kids. I’ve heard her talk a bit about just how hard and how much she works for us, she comes to work early and leaves late everyday. She stays late for typical teacher duties like the occasional tutorials, assignment planning, grading, meetings, and ect. But I believe that she surpasses what an average teacher does for their students. I remember she was telling us she stayed really late one night making a better video for us to better understand a concept. She already had a decent video for us to watch to learn the concept but she decided to stay extra late to help us further understand. Again I have so many moments and memories of her just spreading herself thin to give us, her students the absolute best and most she can. Not every teacher does that not even most, for this reason Mis. Webb stands out as one of the best, most supportive and committed teachers I’ve had the pleasure of having. She will definitely go down as one of those teachers that I will remember even twenty years down the road because of how influential she was in my highschool years.

Overall I'm grateful for having such a great teacher in general especially now with online learning it seems as if everything is way more difficult but I still look forward to Mrs. Webb’s class. Moreover, although I can't seem to get rid of my habit of procrastination after seeing how much I could improve in science i eventually also put more effort into my grades and the overall quality of my work. There were even times when Mrs. Webb helped me get out of my confront zone. For example for the stem showcase where my partner and I would have to present our project ordinarily I likely would have been nervous but oddly enough I felt at ease.

Once I started growing up and started becoming a teenager I became more distant with my mom, I am not the type of person to come up to my mom and talk to her about boys , or about what I feel because I personally sometimes think she wouldn't care or I just wouldn't feel comfortable talking about those topics or when i feel stressed i wouldn't say i am because it would be exaggerating. Someone that i truly believe has allowed me to express those feelings would be Mrs. Webb. She is always there for me when I need it , she literally counts as my second mom and she even says that. I honestly wasn't interested in her class going into it because everyone was always saying how no one passes physics , saying how physics was hard, but honestly physics in her class has been great i actually enjoy it, yeah it gets hard at times but it's pretty interesting and she makes it easy to learn.

I’m grateful for having met Ms. Webb because I don’t feel that much fear as I did before as in asking for help in front of others or answering a question. The feelings that I have at school did change a little. I'm not as scared as I was but I’m still tired of hearing other students ask the same question over and over even after the teacher just answered. The dream I have for my future hasn’t changed that much because I want to go into the art field not the science but The science field does inspire me like the plants, animals and the universe so in a way it did for my next drawing or painting idea. Thank you for being a kind person and willing to help anyone at any time. Thank you.

When it comes to school, I am not particularly motivated, especially if the subject does not interest me. I didn't care much about my schoolwork until I met Ms.Webb, my physics teacher. Assignments are what I would consider chores. Asking for advice or practice when I was stuck on a topic was one of my most difficult tasks. Meeting Ms.Webb was very special to me because she is the one teacher who has stuck since my freshman year. I believe that as a freshman I was very naive, like many. However, when others were asking around about the way teachers were and how their class works, I got told that there would be no worries with her and that she is very compassionate. Sure enough, as I spent more time in her classroom, not only did I find that she is very patient and kind, but also cares for her students and anyone she loves so purely. Without a doubt, if I needed some inspirational words, school related or not, Ms.Webb would surely be there for me. I am grateful for Ms.Webb for changing my perspective on how I view things and making school less stressful. She always works hard for us to ensure that we have the best learning experience possible which is something I admire and appreciate deeply. Besides being a great teacher, she has a very loving and nurturing personality that comforts me even when I feel stressed about school work. She knows how to guide me through something if I find myself confused and makes learning more enjoyable than I would probably think if I had a different teacher. Physics itself is challenging but I grew to like the material we were taught because of the manner in which Ms.Webb would introduce it to the students. When we attended in person, I would sometimes dread the feeling of going to class but Ms.Webbs was never the case. I now find myself more relieved in school and work with a purpose.

Im Destiny Alvarado and have know this teacher for some time now especially since they have been moving with us as we go up a grade. Before I met this teacher there was no exact love for school or in general sciences. I found it to be quite difficult as some teachers never put in much effort to ensure their students understand the material. This teacher allowed me to be comfortable with asking questions and never made me feel silly for having difficulty even if the concept was simple. Their energy in class does help on my lowest days, having an nice and friendly aura does help a lot. My main concerns were with speaking up in class so having this type of teacher really helped in a difficult class.

She has been my teacher since sophomore year, and since that year she has always been there for us not just as a teacher but also as a friend. When we are struggling with school or personal problems, she finds a way to help us be better and do better.

Hello Ms. Webb, My name is Lucas Anzaldua and you know all about me. I’m always the nicest student in your class. Before I met you, I was respectful and I was grateful to have a favorite teacher since chemistry. The biggest challenge is physics class before I met you in Junior year. It was the hardest class I ever took. I’m doing a good job in that class with straight A’s.

Hello! My name is Pahris arvie, but most people know me by Ris. I am a junior in highschool and have a huge interest in science, mainly biology, puzzles and learning languages. It comes as a major surprise to many to know that C.E. King High School is the 12th school I have been to. My family faces many challenges and because of that we find ourselves relocating frequently. When I first came to CEK I was already convinced that there was no point in attempting to make friends, seeing that this wouldn’t become my forever home. I like to tell people that my plan to stay to myself was for good reason however in all honesty I thinkI was just scared. My Sophomore year of highschool all I was really concerned with was my court trial against my assaulter. That and how my family was going to be able to support me on my very long and expensive journey to college.

A little bit about myself, I am a shy person, I am usually the one that doesn’t talk unless needed to, like group projects or answering questions. I prefer subjects that have math better than reading and writing because my comprehension skills are not the best. My attitude towards my first day at high school was me being really nervous, I didn’t know what to expect, I was worried about many things that might happen, all of that went away when I met one of the best teachers Mrs.Webb. When she was introducing herself to the class, from there I knew that she was a very nice teacher and cares about her students. On top of that, before the class started, I saw many students that were grades higher than me come and say hi to her. What makes my teacher so special is that she treats her students as if they are her children, on top of that she has fun lessons for us to learn, and does the work with us. She even explains very well to the point that students don’t really need to study in order to understand the class. When I was entering my 10th grade year in high school, they were switching my academy from STEAM to STEM, which was huge because the new academy I am now, has more difficult classes, and it was the first time they had this academy. The same went with Mrs.Webb, she wasn’t part of the STEM academy and she went the same year I went, she even said to me, “At Least we both are going through the same thing,” Me and Mrs.Webb had built a really good relationship during 9th grade and we still have that relationship. It was an interesting experience, going through the stem academy our first time, but now we have the hang of it. Since Mrs.Webb understands what students are going through, and that she understands what the academy was about, the students loved her, they all had so much confidence in talking to Mrs.Webb for fun. I am honestly so grateful for my teacher, she is so nice, she helps us understand the science, even if it is difficult, and also goes through the assignments with us, so we can see where we went wrong, and understand why it was wrong. After I met Mrs.Webb, I saw school as a place where I can always see Mrs.Webb and talk with her through assignments and when I'm struggling. This is my junior year and she is still my teacher for science, and is still one of my best teachers. When I do grow older and find a career, I do hope my career has some science so that I can always remember Mrs.Webb when I do my career. I thank her for being my teacher for science for 3 years now, and hoping I can get it to 4 years, where I can break her students record of having her for 3 years.

Hello, my name is Jaden Cormier and I’m a junior at C E King High School. I viewed school as just a gateway to my success in the future. I began to realize that I was extremely overwhelmed with trying to excel in every single one of my classes. This in turn took a deep toll on my mental health and well being. My biggest challenge was continuing to try and improve my grades in school. It was difficult for me to see the benefits of pushing myself extra hard in my classes and life.

It was the hardest class I ever took. I’m doing a good job in that class with straight A’s. You were special to me because you show a lot of care to everyone in physics class and I saw it in person and zoom. You help me to support me for my goals. In Chemistry class, I was struggling with a science problem with math. You help me solve this question with moles and I understand how to do math in chemistry. I thank you for supporting me. There are a lot of things that I’m grateful for is your support, your kindness, and teaching. What I feel about school is that I wanna stay in school longer. Next year is my last year to graduate in my last chapter of high school and I have to be prepared for the real world. I’m gonna miss skipping classes with the people I used to hang out with a lot. And of course classes throughout the years since freshman year. Even old king high school too and memories. My dreams change a lot in my future.

Hello Ms.Webb, my name is Gihovanny Hernandez and I am a junior at CE King High School and I’m one of the best students in your class. My attitude towards school was I didn’t like it very much. My biggest concern before your class was if I was going to be able to understand the material. You are special because you are nice and you have a lot of energy. The way you helped us in achieving our goals was by teaching us and helping us. One thing that stuck with me that you said was to never give up. What I’m grateful for is your teaching and support, and the fact that you are not a mean teacher. How I feel about school now is I don’t mind going anymore. My dreams for my future have changed by feeling more motivated to go after them.

My name is Bradley Martell and I am in the 11th grade, I attend CE King High School. I have a pet dog and for my free time I like to play video games with my friends and family. Before I met my teacher my attitude towards school was not that good because I lacked a lot of effort. My biggest challenge before meeting my teachers was actually paying attention to the lessons because they seemed a bit boring to me. This teacher is special to me because she always finds a way to help us out in making our lives just a bit easier. For example she helps me reach my goals by giving me an extra day to do an assignment whenever I have other things going on in my life. I am grateful to my teacher because she always knows how to help not just me but all her students.

I've never been bad at school even though I've never necessarily been good at school. I do good with what I'm able to do. Especially starting high school I was warned by the older friends that I had and by my mom was to appreciate your time in high school or at least enjoy it while it's still here. When I met Mrs. Webb I didn't like her at first because she was way too happy, the way she expressed her love was through physical touch like hugging for example. When high school started I only had two friends that I talked to regularly, after meeting her and getting to know Mrs. Webb better i've changed in many ways that I would have never expected to happen. How do I explain Mrs. Webb? She's like a ball of positivity that on the inside has a little darkness. There are times when you can tell a teacher is upset or isn't having a good day because of their personality and the way they act. It's not obvious when she's having a bad day but it is evident in the way she talks, teaches, and acts. Even if she is having a hard time with all the work she and the other teachers have to do she never puts off her attitude on us. She always gives us her full attention and she thinks about putting our feelings before hers. She says a lot of things that help in the moment and some things that help in the long run especially for senior year. She continuously prepares us for our future even when she is teaching us. I definitely learned to appreciate school more. Now that I am a Junior in my second semester in high school I realized how fast school went by and I'm about to be a senior. It makes me want to cry how much I didn't appreciate the time in school I had. I do know for sure that I need to savor my senior year because I'm going to graduate in a year and right now that's the scariest thing on my mind. Gladly Mrs. Webb is helping my calm down and she's helping my mom and I plan ahead for my future.

I am the only child of a family of 3 and, as a person, I believe myself to be fairly decent: I try to help whenever possible. In contrast to the spoiled image of a “typical” single child, some would say I’m rather disciplined. Ironically, ever since I was young (well younger than now), I’ve always loved learning, yet I’ve always hated work. Thus, there was always this love-hate relationship between me and school. On the one hand, I loved expanding my horizons and interacting with new people, but on the other, I’ve always been somewhat intimidated by teachers (due to my more introverted nature). Likewise, the first days of school always gave a lot of anxiety. Aside from meeting new classmates, I most worried about the teachers: how intimidating were they going to be? How much homework will they give? So, as I entered Mrs. Webb’s class for Chemistry for the first time, imagine my surprise as I was slapped with charisma. Unlike most of my teachers in the past, Mrs. Webb had quite a lot of energy (this is coming from a student in one of her morning classes. As the year progressed, Mrs. Webb made the class more entertaining. She was a great teacher as she thoroughly explained questions that rose from homework problems. It should be noted that, in science or math, whenever there’s a “shortcut”, it makes life easier. Likewise, the techniques, such as conversions, that have seemed like a “shortcut” for my classes today (especially pre-cal). If it wasn’t a shortcut, then I learned methods that made it easier to break down more challenging problems. I’m grateful to Mrs. Webb, mainly for making school “brighter” in a sense. Although I still have a love-hate relationship with school, it’s gotten a little funner. I believe that the energy of a teacher radiates to their students. Thus when a teacher with high charisma teaches, the receptiveness of their teachings are better communicated. If anything, Mrs. Webb has made science funner and more interesting, and I’m lucky to have her once again for Physics this year.

I am Jocelyn Trujillo, a Junior student, and ever since my first year of high school I have always been a person who gets stressed easily. I would always be stressed with school and sometimes I wouldn´t turn in my work because it was so much and sometimes I felt like giving up. In fact, a subject I struggled a lot with was science, freshman year with bio was stressful and I was not prepared for chemistry my sophomore year. Then I met Mrs. Webb my sophomore year and I was lucky to have her as my chemistry teacher and now as a Junior I have her as my Physics teacher. Mrs. Webb is special to me because she has helped me so much. She is a teacher that understands me very well and has helped me with Chemistry and Physics so much. She is always there to help students with whatever they need and tries to help as much as she can. As a student I have seen a few teachers that actually have the patience and want to help students when they are confused in their subject, but Mrs. Webb helps us so much if we have a question and works the problems with us for better understanding. She has told me many things and made me view things from a different perspective that make me work hard for my goals no matter what and that nothing is impossible and one day I will achieve my goals because hard work pays off. I am very grateful for her because of how much she has done for me and because she is always there for me. She is a great teacher and I am thankful that I have her as a teacher because I have learned so much from her. She teaches very well that even her subject is not as stressful as they say it is. School is very stressful but now I have in mind and it has stuck to me that hard work pays off and I will achieve my goals.
