Student Nomination Stories

Nominated by: Kiera Shorter

Ms. Wallace teaches AVID which stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. This program is designed to help students achieve excellence within high school and prepare students for whatever pathway they choose to pursue after high school. I have had Ms. Wallace as my teacher for two years and she has helped me grow so much. She is very dedicated to her students, always going out of her way to help us when we need it. For example, Ms. Wallace went out of her way to find scholarships for me based on my strengths that she observed during class. She did this for me after school hours and surprised me with the information. I believe all students have experienced teachers that at times don't force you to participate but that doesn't fly with Ms. Wallace. She is dedicated to helping each and every one of her students achieve their own personal excellence and won't stand for us only giving half effort. I will be honest and say at first I didn't like this very much but I noticed myself improving in ways I wouldn't have if she hadn't pushed me. Ms. Wallace always has a smile and seems to be full of energy who loves to joke around with her students. I have recently been accepted to Texas A &M college station and I don't think that would have been possible without Ms. Wallace being in my corner. Even if it is small I want her to know that I appreciate her and love her very dearly.
