Student Nomination Story
Hi I'm Nancy Hernandez and I'm in 10th grade. I'm a STEM student at C.E. King High School. My attitude before I met you was that I was shy and only talked to certain people (but not everyone.) A big challenge that I faced in your class was that I only spoke Spanish. When I got to your class, I got the hang of speaking English. I liked your class because I still got to speak Spanish with no problem. You are special to me because I got to learn English in your class and without me learning English, I wouldn't know what I would be doing now. You helped me with something big that I needed to succeed in and you helped achieve the goal I needed. A particular thing that you did was that you were really honest with me. You told my mom the thing I needed help with, and if you wouldn't have said anything, I would have probably never gotten things done on time. I am grateful that you helped me through everything because without you I would have never learned anything. In addition, you always had my back on everything I needed. School can be stressful, but I always try to try my best because everything happens for a reason. I need to overcome the things that challenge me. My dreams have changed dramatically. I thought life was going to be easy where I just had to graduate from high school, but no. I was completely wrong. It needs time, effort, and success to be easy. Nothing is supposed to be easy and even though I learned that the hard way, I now understand. This is why I'm grateful for you and everything I have.
