Student Nomination Stories
Nominated by: Richard Johnson
Mrs. Tompkins is an English / IEP (Individual Education Program For Slow Learners) teacher. My sister who graduated two years ago, who has *SEVERE* anxiety issues along with other issues, had Mrs. Tompkins. Even with all of the *PROBLEMS* that arose throughout the year, Mrs. Tompkins took care of them with no problem. My sister had her from 7th Grade on through to 12th just because of the special bond and trust that was formed between Mrs. Tompkins, my sister, and parents. So naturally, when I got into high school, Mrs. Tompkins took me on. I was a straight A student until my sophomore year when I suffered a severe concussion and never fully recovered. Mrs. Tompkins puts her *FULL* heart and passion into her work and students and goes to bat for them when needed (she wont back down). Even when she is sick and at home she will still conduct video meetings (such as when she had COVID-19). There is NO STOPPING HER WHEN IT COMES TO HER STUDENTS and PARENTS. She has taught me that "failure Is NOT an option," and I am now an A-B student. Her teaching skills, mannerism, attitude, and outlook on life is just GREAT and the Owasso Public School System is BLESSED to have her as a teacher/ life coach. Don't get me wrong, Owasso has many GREAT educators, but Mrs. Tompkins has left such an impression on me, so much so, I will *NOT* hesitate on going to college for Engineering. Mrs. Tompkins has prepared me for it and given me the tools that I need. Owasso Public Schools and the Schools across the Nation need 100 Mrs. Tompkins in their schools. I am blessed, alive, and *NOT* afraid, thanks to Linsey!
