Student Nomination Stories

Nominated by: Alex Miles

Mr. Farnham has helped me throughout this unpredictable year both academically and emotionally. He always makes sure that students feel appreciated and comfortable, takes their word, and makes sure that we're not putting too much pressure on ourselves. For example, earlier this year I had gotten sick and those symptoms combined with anxiety put me in a lot of pain. This was worse when I was in his class and I needed to go to the emergency room, so I emailed him letting him know that I might not be participating as much. He responded and told me that I was ok to just go at that moment and catch up on things whenever I was feeling better. Another instance of Mr. Farnham being an amazing teacher was in the beginning of the year. I am non-binary, so I use a different name than that on my school registration. I had this chosen name in my email signature and put it on some projects as a nickname, but I never went out of my way at first to ask people to call me it out of anxiousness. I had to fill out a form for a club that Mr. Farnham had sponsored where we put our name, pronouns, and some other things. After that, there were no questions asked and he just started using my preferred terms, which made me feel respected as a person especially when even some of my family refuses to do that. That is why I think that this teacher deserves to be nominated.
