Jason Carlisle
Arnold Adreani Elementary School, Sacramento, California
Student Nomination Story
Covid has been hard on all the students. Not surprising, it is even harder when kids struggle with learning when they have diagnosis such as ADHD. One of my children had Mr. Carlisle 8 years ago and at that time, we enjoyed his teaching style. Very supportive and very engaging. So when my youngest got him this year, we were so happy that he would be her 4th grade teacher. Regardless of the teacher, we anticipated some struggles and hardships because of COVID, but remained optimistic. Mr. Carlisle celebrates Kelsey’s successes and decides what he can do to help her in her failures all while trying to teach an entire class on Zoom. Many times, he spends his lunch with his students and after school for extra help. He has developed small groups within zoom to help those that struggle with learning. I know Kelsey has had struggles and she doesn’t love school because of these struggles and failures. I can’t begin to say the amount of patience and love he has for his students. He is literally the most amazing and accommodating teacher that puts in so much extra to see his students not only succeed but also love school. He deserves so much more that just this nomination. Mr. Carlisle is teacher of the year in my eyes.
