Janice Abud

I'm the parent of a student Mrs. Abud has positively affected, an impact that has reached into our home and beyond. I imagine when one decides to become a teacher there is an overarching goal to influence. Mrs. Abud influences our daughter in positive, constructive, and meaningful ways. She's a role model of strength, perseverance, and authenticity. No one is perfect and not one student has it all together, our daughter included. Mrs. Abud is a resource teacher who remediates on our daughter's behalf. We believe in accountability. Without calling it that, Mrs. Abud holds her students accountable to their responsibilities and completion of their work, all while pushing them to keep to their goals with the mindset of perseverance, personal worth, and positivity. There are certain people who have the ability to influence, teach, cheer on, and persuade without raising a voice and keeping a calm attitude. I refer to this type of individual as a 'velvet hammer' -- they know how to come down hard gently, so the one affected by the touch is encouraged, never hurt or left negatively impacted. We appreciate and adore Mrs. Abud and wish her well in her future as an influential teacher.
