Student Nomination Story
For my inspiration letter I will be writing about my Innovation teacher Mr. German. He has been such an inspiration to me. He has always pushed me to work my hardest and keep pushing. Mr.German has made me who I am today: a Maker and a real engineer. He arrived at Brawerman on day one of first grade to now, and hopefully for many years to come. I remember that one day when we were working on our mouse trap cars. We were winding it up when “SNAP!” the mousetrap broke in half. I was so devastated. We were four classes away from presenting and I didn’t know what to do. I went over to Mr.German and told him what had happened, and right away he said that he’ll work with me to find a solution…together. We were a team. That’s how he inspires me, doing things for others and not thinking twice. About 4 years ago I worked on a huge project with Mr.German. A Little Free Library. I knew that our extended community needed books so I wanted to give that to them in a fun new way. Little Free Libraries are relatively new and someone would usually find them in front of houses. I wanted to make one for our school’s outreach center: The Karsh Center. They help people in need with services like doctors, jobs, and a food pantry. Once I got approval from my school, I asked Mr. German if he could help me construct my design. He immediately said YES. I remember I made 2 announcements at my school's Shabbat service. Mr.German picked me up and carried me during this project. He worked one on one with me during snack, lunch, and after school to see my project through. I even unveiled my library at my school’s Maker Faire. I now have around 200 books at my house just waiting to keep that library filled. Without Mr.German, my Little Free Library wouldn’t be a thing! For me inspiration isn’t from heroes with special powers, the people that inspire me are real heroes. Not because they fight bad guys, but because they always are finding new ways for us to change the world. Thank you, Mr.German, for always believing in me.
