Student Nomination Story

On my first day at the school, Mrs. Saldivar was very welcoming and joyful. Everyone was already in the class when she was telling us our class rules. The one rule she said she had in her classroom was being respectful. Respectful] is just one thing of many that Mrs. Saldivar is. She is caring, joyful, bubbly, and sweet. I knew that mine and my classmate's respect for her would grow every day she taught us. I can confidently say that she cared so much about each student and always wanted the best for them. Mrs. Saldivar is a selfless and generous teacher. I remember she would let us bring snacks that we would eat every day in the classroom. When some kids wouldn’t bring or have food she would always bring extra and give some to the students who didn’t have it. I saw she would always think about other students' best interests like no other teacher I have had. She would always check up on her students and would want them feeling and doing their best. She would help any student who was in need. Even if it wasn’t her student, she would want to make them better at whatever they did. I struggled a lot at the beginning of the school year and was getting low grades. I couldn’t retain what I was learning from any subject. However, Mrs. Saldivar was always there when I needed to get my grade up, even if it wasn’t a subject she taught. She would let any student stay for tutorials and help them with homework for any class. By the end of the year, I was an A+ student and was in the Gifted and Talented classes. I was never in any GT classes before Mrs. Saldivar. She was very encouraging to me. I remember falling behind on assignments and her telling me that it was okay. She said I could stay with her after school group and that she would help me with the school work. She never yelled or shamed kids for doing a bad job or getting a bad grade. She took it as an opportunity to help and encourage you. Never to make you feel bad for doing poorly. She always was very understanding and compassionate. If you could speak to her with honesty and wholeheartedness, she would help you to the best of her abilities. Mrs. Saldivar wasn't like any other teacher. She wouldn’t have to try to make the class fun, it came naturally to her and everyone in her class could see that. She would make us laugh and smile even when it was a Monday and we didn’t want to work. She would make us act out plays that we were reading and do drama circles that everyone loved. I can go on and on about how truly amazing Mrs. Saldivar is. She is an excellent teacher as well as a person. To this day, I will always have great respect for the greatest teacher of all time, Mrs. Saldivar.
