Student Nomination Story

My name is Jamie Puente. I’m 16 years old and a sophomore in high school. I used to dread going to school every single day until I met my teacher Mrs. Munoz. She made my life so much better! My biggest challenge was that I didn’t really get how to do anything in chemistry at all. I was scared of trying and failing. My teacher is so special because she’s always there when I need her. She’s always willing to help me with anything. Nobody has ever treated me so sweet like her. She treats me with respect and I love that. Not every teacher treats their students with respect or treats them like normal people. She actually tries to teach me and helps me until I understand perfectly about what I’m learning about. She once told me, “hard work takes dedication, you have what it takes.” I’m so grateful for her because she makes me feel so wanted. I’m grateful that she has the patience to deal with me and doesn’t give up on me easily. I feel very passionate about school and what I want to do after high school. My dreams and future are still the same.

The first day I met you, I knew you were gonna be an amazing teacher. I knew you would understand others and be able to hear us out. The way you introduced yourself to us and the way you just talked to us about who you are as a person is truly remarkable. I love your personality and the teacher you are. The amount of chances you give us sometimes in order for us to not fail is very much appreciated. You describe things in a way where we can all understand what's going on. I love it. I really appreciate all that you have done for us in order to make us better students.

I am a hardworking student and I try to get all my work done on time. I care about my grades and I try to do my best on each assignment. Before I met Mrs. Munoz, I thought she was going to a very strict teacher. However, she is actually very laid back. My biggest concerns before I met her were if she taught in a way where I can learn and if she was going to be mean. Mrs. Munoz is special because she is a really good role model to me. She teaches great and she is really nice. She can make you laugh when you need to and learn when you need to. She helped support my goals by showing me how to study and giving me the time to do so. One thing that she did that stuck with me was the way she studies. She tries to learn the content and teach it to herself for her to remember. I am grateful that Mrs. Munoz is very patient with you and will explain it to you over and over until you understand what she is teaching. She will give you the time that you need and won't make you feel dumb if you don't understand. She will make you laugh while learning so it makes her a great teacher and person. I feel that going to school is way more fun and enjoyable now that I have Mrs. Munoz as a teacher. I know that I am welcome in her class anytime and that makes school so much better because if I'm sad, or I'm just not having a good day, then I can go to her class and have a good laugh. My dreams for the future are changing every day. I have many aspirations, but being a dentist is at the top of the list. Seeing my teacher work hard to get her master's degree is mainly what is changing my thinking because at first I only wanted to get my bachelor's degree. Now, I think it's best to go above and beyond my standards and try to get my masters degree right after my bachelors.

Hey my name is Angel Guevara and I'm a goalkeeper for C.E King High School. One thing about me is that I have always had trouble focusing on one subject at a time. I'm going to tell you about a teacher that impacted my life in high school. The attitude that I had at first in the beginning of school was alright. It was neither too happy nor too bad. However, now my attitude is different. I'm happy to go to her class and just talk with her. Her name is Ms. Munoz and she is my pre-ap chemistry teacher. One of the biggest challenges that I'm always facing is losing focus. This is a common challenge as we have distractions at our finger tips with our phones.

Hello and good afternoon. My name is Miguel Ruiz and I have been looking forward to school since my middle school years. I always thought that starting from middle school everything would change and I would get bullied due to my lack of height. Some of my challenges and concerns before I met you was having trouble paying attention in your classes because I have a hard time either staying focused on one subject or hard time in science because of the previous teachers I had. The experiences with them weren’t the best, but Ms. Munoz has helped me so much!

Hi! It's me, Julianne. Before I got to your class, I wasn't very happy about school. Since it was online, I didn't get the chance to interact with anyone or anything and it was a hard challenge for me to face. I'm glad that whenever I finally got the chance to come back, I came to your class first because I got to feel like I was learning properly again. Especially with the project we have currently. I am getting to learn new information in cool ways. I'm grateful to have your class because of all the fun I get to have. I am beginning to feel better about school and have now broadened my goals and hopes. Thank you so much for being so kind and amazing to me this year! I hope I get to recieve another teacher like you in the future.
