Student Nomination Story

Ms. Spivey has been a very helpful teacher senior year, one who has shown to me what it is to not only be good at math but a good human. Ms. Spivey's class is not bound by calculus or geometry, but as far as the words said and topics discussed. A vivid memory I have of her is the willingness to understand everyone's side, back story, and upbringing. Her classroom doesn't feel like a regular old classroom, it is often filled with discussion and small talk of which makes it a relaxed and accepting environment for everyone who enters. Ms. Spivey stands out from other teachers because of her willingness to understand and accept that some students just take a while to understand the material. Having taken time out of her day and moving around schedules in order to better help me out (a person who works essentially full time as a student and still goes to school) I remember she always encourages me to do my best and is genuine about every interaction. She is a young teacher but shows the qualities that every student and person gravitates to. Since I work so much, I can not attend after school tutoring due to me going straight to work after school and I asked her if I could come to her first period to get help, to which she said yes to. She managed to help me whilst helping out her geometry class. I love having Ms. Spivey as a teacher due to her openness to opinion, thought, and views.
