Congratulations to
National Teaching Award Nominee
Brian Avery
Cle Elum Roslyn High School, Cle Elum, Washington
Student Nomination Story
Mr. Brian Avery was my Geometry teacher my freshman year of high school, my Algebra teacher my sophomore year of high school, and the one teacher I would go to for anything, I spent many lunch hours in his room just to catch up on work, bug him, or even get math help. Mr. Avery gave his students everything, he created an after school program to help students with math, he devoted so much time and effort into each and every student. When I was having a hard day, he would be the teacher to cheer me up. He was the most outstanding teacher, by far. He has inspired me to work hard for everything because I am capable of so much. He pushed me to work hard in every class, he inspired me to look into teaching as a career. He is one teacher that has changed my life, and I will be forever thankful for. My last day of school at Cle Elum High School was a tough one, I cried while leaving his class room because he was my favorite teacher, who I saw everyday, and I knew I would no longer see him, I would no longer be able to go to his class and bug him, or even go to him when I needed math help. My freshman year of high school, I had personal issues with fitting in, Mr. Avery was also there to cheer me up, whether I needed to sit in his class for lunch, or even just needed someone to tell me that I would be okay.
