Mr. Elko has become more than just a teacher to me, he is also a mentor. I am currently in graduate school for Education and I would not be where I am today without his help. Even this many years post high school he still is involved and has helped me flourish. During my undergrad he allowed me to come in and observe his classroom for a week as part of one of my education classes. We continue to email and occasionally I’ll visit the school where he gives me advice. Without Mr. Elko’s help I would not be the person I am today. I struggle with anxiety and depression, sometimes making school difficult and slowing down my rate of completion. He has helped me stay focused and realize that it is okay to finish later than others.
