Student Nomination Story

What makes Mrs Hay awesome is she very thoughtful, caring, compassionate and passionate about her students. I was worried about my daughter starting pre-k but since the first day of school, she’s absolutely loved Mrs Hay. There has never been a crying day where she didn’t want to go to school. She honestly wants to go to school on weekends too. And I hear all weekend long “when do I go back to school?” On April 1, 2024, we had a tornado plow through and hit our area including our house. Within hours, Mrs Hay is messaging parents asking if her students and families were ok. To know we have that kind of support is astounding. Mrs Hay truly cares about the well-being of her student while in class and at home. On 4/5/2024, Mrs Hay has put together a STEM Build Your Own Racer project for her students. Students will be making race cars out of bottle caps for wheels, soda bottles, and a ballon to propel the car. Mrs Hay is the only teacher to do this project with her kids. Mrs Hay spent hours at home cutting holes in the middle of the bottle caps so the kids were prepared the next day for the race. That’s hours out of her own family time spent for her students. Thing that my daughter comes home telling me about the fun ways Mrs Hay teaches. For example, to memorize how to write the number 2, Mrs Hay made the saying “half a heart….give it a shoe”. Mrs Hay makes learning fun and excited. When they line up to go home, everyone stands in line and catches a “bubble” (with their mouths) for no talking in the halls. A teacher should have open communication with the parents and students. They should be willing to have the families involved in the teaching process. That’s Mrs Hay. She gives constant weekly updates and directions. If my daughter misses a number, letter, word, Mrs Hay is messaging me. Mrs hay wants what’s best for her students. She wants to see them succeed and do well. Learning shouldn’t stop at school and Mrs Hay displays that caring enhancement of learning in class and provides parents with substance to help their child at home. Mrs Hay is constantly doing positive reinforcement. From stickers to treasure boxes to smiley faces on her papers my daughter brings home. My daughter has built so much confidence and has learned so much in only a few months. I am truly blessed and thankful to have Mrs Hay as part of our family. I’ve honestly tried to talk her into being my daughter’s teacher until she graduates high school. I honestly wish I could give Mrs Hay the world because she deserves it.
