Student Nomination Story

She changed me because when I came into the class, she always asked us about our day. During Spring Break, she helped me when I was down because I was starting to fail. She was the one that talked to me and asked if anything was happening. However, in the end, she helped me by getting me back to kid/ student I really am.

My specific teacher that I would like to nominate is my geometry teacher Ms. White. She always makes sure that we understand the material that we are going over in class, and even though sometimes people say she's a bit intimidating, I think she's just doing her job of helping us learn. Also, she is very understanding if we communicate with her if something is going on. Our school uses the remind app in order to communicate with our teachers and whenever somethings going on at home with my wifi or with any doctor appointments, I always let Ms. White know and she gives me the okay! I think Ms. White changed my perspective in math a bit because I used to hate it cause its so confusing and at first I was struggling with her class in the beginning but the more I asked questions and for help she always was there to help explain it! Now I have a A in her class!

Ms. White is one of the only teachers in the math department who makes me really understand the content we learn in class. I'll admit, I was failing her class in the beginning of the semester, but she reached out and asked what was wrong. After that, I felt more motivated to do my work because I felt like someone really did care about me. I'm proud to say that after that, my F turned into an A. I know I'm not the only one feels like Ms. White teaches her class in a way in which we can all understand. Another geometry teacher had to leave for a while so Ms. White taught my class and the other teacher's class too. I've never seen so many people in a class before, at least in a zoom meeting. We were all answering her questions. She said she was happy that we all participated in class so often. That comment made me want to contribute more in class. When the other teacher came back, the rest of the class was dissapointed. They said they liked how Ms. White taught and how they understood everything much better with her teaching the material. She said they were all welcome to come to her after school tutorials whenever they needed help. I'm glad to have a teacher liked Ms. White. When I feel troubled, I'll know who to ask for help.

From all of my years of being school, from pre-k to present day, this is the only class I can truly say that I have gained most knowledge of. Every single material she taught I have understood. The way she organizes her classroom and plans ahead of time truly contributes alot towards my education. Every other teacher I know get their material from various sources, although it is not wrong, it tends to frustrate me. The material sometimes asks for procedures used from previous units and when you pick the material from one source and another, there is no keeping track of what was taught in what unit. With this teacher, everything ties together. We keep track of what was taught and in what exact sub-unit it was taught in. In the same way, scheduling occurs. We always know that notes must be done ahead of classtime in order to glance over them in class together. Warm-ups and exit ticket really enforce and seal in what is being learned. Also, the material is never boring. It is full of creativity, fun activities and colors. Her dedication and attitude towards us geuinely shows she cares about us. Last but certainly not least, tutorials. Tutorials are always announced during class so we kow when the are available to us compared to being sent through Remind. The tutorials indeed are a great opportunity she offers. She takes the time to focus on the overall topic, thoroughly, for the tutorials, giving individual comments throughout. She then proceeds to help each student individually in a really helpful way that makes each person gain something from the tutorial session. Overall, Ms. White has been the best teacher I have encountered in all eleven years of being in school, not only for her teaching style, but for her outlook.

This teacher has changed my life by always offering help not only to me but also to my classmates as well. She has helped me understand anything I have struggled with before. She has taken time out of her day to set up tutorials for us. She has been through a lot, and is still pulling through. We truly admire her for it.

Ms. White has been an amazing teacher towards us. She is always taking time out of her day to do tutorials no matter who shows up or who does not. This shows me how committed and how she cares for her students a lot. Not only did I think I would dislike geometry because of the kids saying how boring and hard geometry will be but also in fact it is the opposite with me. I enjoy geometry and Ms. White has made me feel like I can actually do something if I put my mind and effort towards it. That is why I think she should be nominated, for her kindness and careness.

Ms. White has been a great teacher this year! It sucks that we can't have regular school and do fun activities, but she always finds a way to keep it fun. Another thing I love about Ms. White is how caring she is as a person! She always tries to check in on us. She is overall an amazing teacher.

Before doing school virtually, I used to really enjoy math classes. However, after doing school online I had a hard time not only concentrating, but also learning how to do math problems overall. Ms. White's class has shown me how easy math can be with the right tools, practice and attitude. Ms. White has taken many ways for us to understand topics. For example, she showed us how on the desmos calculator, there are different ways for us to take notes either digitally or handwritten, and many other programs to better understand each concept. I can definitely say that if it wasn't for Ms. White's class I would still be struggling with understanding math.

Ms. White is an excellent teacher who has made this a better year for me. Ever since the 5th grade, I struggled in math terribly and never understood anything. My 5th grade teacher never supported me and would blame me for not understanding. I thought I would always be bad at math. I remember getting '60 and '70s on my test it was just a difficult subject that the teacher made me dislike. I would stay up late doing makeup assignments to pass her class. Somedays, I had to stay inside for recess while everyone else played. She made me feel like a failure until my mom started checking my work, and we found out my teacher was marking questions I got right, wrong because I didn't use her method to solve. But once I got to high school and had Ms. White, within the first three months, I was doing amazing in geometry with all A's and getting 90-100's on tests. It was shocking to see my math grade so high. The way she teaches has helped me focus and understand math in a completely different way. She urges us to do our best, helps us when we struggle, will never judge you, and will help you along the way. Ms. White is a teacher you will cherish your whole life and, I'm grateful I had her as a teacher.
