Sue Blackmore

Ms. Blackmore is unlike any other teacher I’ve met. She’s not just caring and supportive, but she makes sure everybody’s doing okay. I’ve spent a few hours after school with her going over work that I’ve missed and truly helping me out. She even organized my binder for me and taught me new ways on how to organize. I’ve seen many teachers who won’t even help you on a problem, but on an example for interest she taught me how to do the problem and allowed me to try it myself. She didn’t get angry that I messed up, but she explained to me how what I did was wrong and tried to help reframe my thinking to help me complete the problem. She also hands out candy right before break and honestly, we all love that so much. Instead of blaming the students for getting a certain problem wrong, she takes it onto herself to find a new way of explaining it. There’s always extra practice on the counter and if we ever needed her, she’s there. We also do different types of assignments with her as well. We have assigned groups and we’ve done activities with distance, research, and sometimes we’re given a sheet of paper and she lets us try to teach it. I’m a tour guide, and I’ve never seen anybody devote their life to teaching this way, and it’s amazing.
