Student Nomination Story
Mr. Rice By Christian Oie-Radosevich, grade 12 I have always struggled in school, especially in my junior year, I was on the brink of having a failed class and struggling to keep the others above a D. That's when I was introduced to Mr. Rice, the classes I was struggling in, were his specialty, so it helped a whole lot. Anyway, after we introduced ourselves I sat down next to him and started to work on the huge amount of missing assignments I had. We did economics because I was doing horrible in that class and most of the assignments were from there. As we were going through them he would give me pointers, ways around the assignments, anything you could think of felt like he gave it to me, which made the assignments much easier for every class I had. And soon after that, I had some classes with him and even built a relationship with him. He has even given me helpful life advice, as well as ways to problem solve if I am struggling with something or if it's something to do with school or whatever it may have been, as well as how to prepare for the future with the class he teaches it really prepares you for certain things you will come across in life, rather than interview for a job, or how to improve your communication skills with other people. He has also taught me how to get things done when they are assigned or not to wait to get them done because that's the reason why I had so many missing assignments, and they have been cut down tremendously from last year because of him. Without him, I would have failed some of my classes but with his teachings, encouragement, pointers, life advice, and help I would not have gotten this far and even grown this much due to him. I don't know if he realizes it but he really does mean a lot to me even though I might not express it. All I can say is thank you from the bottom of my heart Mr. Rice for all the help you have given me since my junior year, without you I truly would not be where I am today and who I am today. You have truly changed my life to push myself, to change myself, to be myself, and I hope you have seen the growth that I have had in the past 2 years because of your help.
