Congratulations to
National Teaching Award Nominee
Patrick Harris
The Roeper School, Birmingham, Michigan
Student Nomination Story
At my school, we call our teachers by their first names which strengtens the bond I have with Patrick. Patrick feels like an older brother to me. An older brother who teaches me and my classmates about how to stand up for yourself and others, proper sentence structure, and public speaking to name a few. Since I met him, I have felt inspired to make a change when I feel the need to. I have learned how to write poetry and a varitey of speeches which made me feel more confident in my writing. He makes podcasts and is involved in a lot of public speaking, which I think is awesome that I get to learn from someone who has had experience with many skills that I have learned in his class. When I see him in the hallways, we often stop to have a random conversation. I am lucky to have him as someone I feel comfortable talking to about English as well as my personal life. He has put a positive impact on me, so now I need to return the favor even though nothing can truly replace what he has done for me.
