Student Nomination Story

Mr Brookins has taught me so many things within the last 2 years.i came into highschool not knowing anything about reading music,playing an instrument etc But once I got in percussion he instantly helped.Im thankful for Mr B because he never lets us fall or slack,he keeps us on track and builds us up to become the best we can be. Mr Brookins makes learning fun and exciting. He teaches us life skills and prepares us for the future to help us achieve our goals.Lastly, He never gives up on us,He always gives us his best.

Miyah Henderson

I only met Mr. B at the beginning of this year, but I can say without a doubt that he is one of the most involved teachers I have ever come across. He actively works to make his students the best musicians that we can be so that we can build a brighter future for ourselves. He works with high schoolers that stay in band for 4 years to provide them scholarships to amazing universities/colleges. Mr. Brookins has shown me nothing but love, and has really taught me how to read music in a way that I can understand and apply. During marching season, I was ready to quit because I thought “I’m way too far behind everyone else.l’ll never catch up with them.” Mr. B was there to motivate me and encourage me to keep coming back, keep trying, and not give up. It took a while to get the hang of the drill, but every drop of sweat was all worth it in the end. I’m still in band, and I have no one else to thank but Mr. B for no allowing to give up on myself.
