Student Nomination Story

Many people would say that teachers are supposed to impact their students in at least a small way. However, Mx. Heller has greatly surpassed that. Throughout my years of 5th and 6th grade, Mx. Heller taught many subjects including social studies, creative writing, math, reading, and a wide variety of others. While teaching those subjects, he created an open opportunity for us as students to learn new things; not only by showing us topics using the right methods, but also by exceeding expectations in all ways. While teaching creative writing, Mx. Heller taught insightful lessons with deep meanings and philosophies, and during math class he made up fun games to contribute to our learning. During reading class, he chose grate books for us to read, creating amazing lessons and add on questions to go with the story. Mx. Heller prepared us for the future in middle school, teaching us how to annotate in books and how to ask insightful questions. A few times during class, a students tend to ask with worry, "What grade did we get on the test?" or "I think I might do bad in math this semester." Mx. Heller always said the same thing in a different way: "Grades don't define who you are." "Being a good person always comes before a marking on a quiz." And in almost every way, he was right. Mx. Heller gave so much valuable advice to us, and when our graduated class comes back to visit, he never stops flooding us with well thought out words and tips. This teacher is made up of every single element to make the perfect educator, on a level where he won't stop growing. Mx. Heller has said some of the most thought out and philosophical things that I've ever heard, and I don't think he will stop teaching things he learns to us any time soon.
