Student Nomination Story

Karen Yenofsky is an educator that is constantly exploring, piloting, and pivoting to current Best Practices. Her sacrifices for her students know no boundaries, perfectly demonstrated as she embarks on an annual trip to Israel with her 6th grade students. My son was one of the lucky ones to join her last year, and he is forever changed. The trust Karen earns from her students is a year long investment, and there are no words to express my gratitude. She brings all of herself to her students every single day, and relates to them in ways that consistently bring out their best work, and their true selves. An excerpt from a note I wrote to her as she with my son in Israel reads: As you pray and reflect at our beloved Kotel, know that we all are symbolically standing with you. With hope. With love. And with immense gratitude. You have guided our children well these past two years. Your teachings reaching far wider than academic. You have taught them to be inclusive, lead with integrity, and possess an awareness of the world that reaches far beyond Brawerman. Thank you. Our children trust you and take risks with you and can be their true selves with you. That they can have this remarkable experience with you is everything. We hope you can feel all our love at this very moment. Our hands are held up high sending it your way. We love you. Love, Carrie
