Student Nomination Story

Mr. Eckert has changed my life drastically. I hated science, which was Mr. Eckert's specialty. But once I had Mr. Eckert, I loved it! Mr. Eckert does lots of cool thing in science that I bet no other teacher does! For example, one time Mr. Eckert made the class pancakes in the morning, and he brought in his collected maple syrup from real maple trees! But just in case someone didn't like that kind, he brought in that fake maple syrup too. He also taught me a whole lot in writing. I am above grade level in writing, and he still found time to help me while he was teaching everyone else grade level stuff. I remember the one big tip he gave me in writing, never use numbers like 4 to start a sentence. You have to spell out the number if it starts the sentence. One time he was talking to our class about writing (because not a lot of people in my class liked to write) and Mr. Eckert said, "I bet you could all be punished with writing. Like if you were bad, your parents could say go to your room and write! Well of course not for Claire... she would just be like ok!" He would always say that. We also typed a lot last year, and I have very small hands so I peck at key-boards. If you don't know what that means, it means that I don't have both of my hand in the right placement. He understood, and didn't get on me for that. I loved to read, and I am reading Harry Potter. So, last year I would sometimes have a word that I had no idea what it meant. So I would go up and ask him what the word meant, and he would say, "Girl, again!" Then he would answer my question. I loved Mr. Eckert and I will through-out all of my years. He has taught me so much, and I really thank you for giving me this opportunity to nominate him. Mr. Eckert is a nice, funny, sarcastic teacher. I wish I can have him every year of my learning! Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Claire
