Giulia Silvestre

I’m a little late ( I’m an 32 years old now) but I would love to introduce and nominate a very special teacher that truly cared about her students. I had Mrs. Silvestre as my 4th , 5th and 6th grade teacher ( yes you read that right) she was the reason I wanted to go to school everyday. She was super engaged with us. And if you ever needed someone to talk to, she always lended an ear. She went out of her way and put together a group called performers at Betsy Ross where we would do school plays, performed at Knotts Berry Farm and learned how to French braid and crochet. One thing I remember also is she would get us journals and we can write whatever we wanted and she would respond to us. She made us feel safe. She is the reason I wanted to be a teacher. We need more teachers like her. I graduated 6th grade in 2002 and fast forward to 2023 and she still keeps in touch with us. If you had Mrs.Silvestre as a teacher, you know how lucky you were to have her. She deserves to be recognized for her amazing self and everything she does for her students. Like i like to say, did you have a Ms.Honey (from the Matilda movie)? I did, her name is Mrs.Silvestre
