Dominique Montgomery

I never thought that I would have a favorite teacher in high school. However, Mr. Dominique Montgomery is not just a teacher, but a successful educator to me. At Thee Kingstree High School in Kingstree, South Carolina, Mr. Montgomery is a teacher that came in and is making a difference in many of our lives as scholars. Mr. Montgomery is an educator that teaches, guides, instruct, support, care, have a great rapport with his scholars, and is tremendous at what he does. Mr. Montgomery refers to every student as a scholar because he knows that we will not only excel, but also become great young adult upon graduating high school and succeeding in life. Mr. Montgomery is an awesome educator because he goes above and beyond for all his scholars day in and day out even students he has not teach yet. Mr. Montgomery not allow set the tone of his classroom for the learning capacity; he always works hard with everyone of his students. He treats us all the same. If he sees that we are struggling, or need further assistance, he is always there to assist even if it's afterschool. He speaks to us as if we are young adults already and always relates any lesson to real life situations. I am always eager to report to Mr. Montgomery class because I know he will be in the hallway greeting scholars by their names, he will pass out candy to motivate scholars not to get a tardy, and he speak to the entire class as a whole because the lesson of the day. If he sees that someone maybe off to a bad day, he aims to assisting the person to finding a positive solution to their problems, and not to fight it out, or go and get in trouble. Sometimes, Mr. Montgomery will even give his own lunch to scholars that are still hungry after having the school lunch. Mr. Montgomery has a great rapport with all his students, staff, and administrative at Thee Kingstree High School. Whenever I go to Mr. Montgomery, even for the smallest thing, he is always there with a smile on his face, will stop what he is doing and able to assist. Mr. Montgomery motivates all scholars to do their very best everyday and not to make up an excuse by telling us that excuses only matter to the person that is telling it. He believes in all scholars at school and keep telling us that he knows once we graduate from high school, we will go on to do great things. Mr. Montgomery pushes me to do great in all my classes. When he notices that I maybe down because of a low grade I received in another class, he always motivates me by telling me to keep my head up and he know that I will pass the next exam. Sometimes, he will even help me to understand problems that I missed out of his subject area matter, yet able to show how I got the problem wrong. He always gives us positive feedback in class even when a response is wrong, he always allows us to be leaders of the day in his class, and he always on his toes ensuring that we are getting the understanding of the lesson being taught. For this, Mr. Dominique Montgomery is my teacher hero and I really want the best for him as he does for his scholars and myself.
