Student Nomination Story

Shanna Mellott was my freshman year English teacher in high school. As a young teacher back then, she always challenged us by creating interactive lessons. She was instrumental in developing my love of acting and all things Shakespeare. I have been teaching for four years (after spending 12 years in another career field after college). When I began teaching at my former high school, Mrs. Mellott was still there - she is still there today, nearly 20 years later. I consistantly go to her for advice and mentorship. She helps me think through ideas and offers amazing tips. More than anything, she is encouraging and supportive. Being a new teacher is hard, but she is always there to make sure I can find my way through any struggle.
