My dad is one of the most inspirational teachers I know. He teaches at one of the lowest paid school districts in Pennsylvania. In 2016 he and many other teachers in his district went on strike to negotiate the horrible and demeaning contracts they had been teaching under for 15 years, and the entire time I just remember my father being so distraught. He wanted nothing more than to be back in the classroom with his students. He loves his job so much. I see it in the way he interacts with his students. I see it especially when he coaches. The way he lights up when an athlete accomplishes a goal they've been working toward. His smile when we run into a past student on the street and they tell him how he affected them and how he made an impact on their life is something I can't even begin to explain. While I was never lucky enough to be taught by him in the classroom, I am more than lucky to be his student for life. There is no doubt in my mind that my dad is the greatest teacher out there.
