Patricia Sylvester

This teacher goes above and beyond the expectations of any teacher. Her heart is bigger then any other I know. She thrives to help the community in anyway possible and shape the minds of students both in and out of the classroom. She has the school involved with “Backpack Buddies” and making sure all the students within her school are fed and don’t go hungry. She is putting together her 3rd year Angel Tree for all the students who don’t have family’s or won’t receive gifts for a Christmas and the number of students involved have tripled since the first year started. She held a Halloween event on Oct. 31st for the community and those who were affected in our area by hurricane Florence and had many sponsors and volunteers donate there time and put together an event that over 500 people attended and were able to eat for free, costumes were donated for those in need and just have a good time. This teacher truly impacts every life she touches and I feel as though she goes unnoticed and I think deserves a whole lot of recognition. She’s an awesome teacher and friend and we need more teachers like her. She also was able to get free tuxes for her students last year to attend prom and all her students were able to secure jobs at a local job fair, all her students are special needs with some sort of disability.
