Student Nomination Story
Hello my name is Ellie Prentiss I am 13 years old and I am going to tell you about one of the great changes my life has taken. In August of 2019 I walked into my first day of middle school and I was honestly terrified. I was scared of math. The year before when I was in sixth grade I had a tough time but then that all changed because of Mrs. Roulston. At the beginning of that year I was behind on my multiplication and division and I was lost in a world of math problems that I didn't understand and it was hard, but then I met someone who made math completely and utterly AWSOME and that person is my math teacher Mrs. Roulston. When I stepped into that classroom on the first day of middle school I was very nervous and a little paranoid that I was going to fail everything, but Mrs. Roulston stepped in and she made sure I knew I could ask for help and she always knew when you needed help and always explained things in a way that I could understand and she didn't just do this for me she did this for every single student. Mrs. Roulston helped me with my division and multiplication she made it so that I understood it. One of the things Mrs. Roulston taught me was that you could do any math problem in any way if you got it right so if that was what made sense and it was correct than you should do it that way. Before Mrs. Roulston helped me I was scared of math it was like that one big thing in your life that makes you want to lock your self away and for me that was a big deal because math is used in everything. Now I can do my math with confidence in the fact that I won't fail and that I am going to be able to get through life without those worries to haul behind me. I want Mrs. Roulston to know that I appreciate everything that she has done for me.
