Ms. Akin was always someone I could go to for anything. She was a strong woman who inspired me to be the best at anything I do and was always there to help in any way she can. Nothing negative ever came from her, if she ever wanted better from us she’d always make sure her words were to be constructive criticism. I once needed financial aid for college and she was 100% willing to co-sign for a loan to help me. Not once was her door closed to me or my husband who was also a student of hers. As I got older she became more than a mentor, she became family. She is now an active member in my children’s lives and I know my daughters will have someone in their lives that they can look up to as they grow.
